SACKS FOOD PANTRY

Sacks Thrift Avenue Thrift Store expanded in December 2013 by opening a food pantry in the same building. Both ministries are owned and operated by the First United Pentecostal Church of Greenfield, with Tim Chandler as the Director.

The thrift store and food pantry were the result of an obvious need in the community for additional resources for those struggling to make ends meet. The church was blessed with many members who were willing to volunteer.

The food pantry was initially funded by the church and thrift store proceeds; but has grown to include donations from area churches, businesses and individuals thanks to public awareness and support from the city of Greenfield.

Sacks Food Pantry currently works with over 750 clients who have registered for assistance. Their average monthly distribution reaches 200 families with more than 8,000 pounds of food given away each month.

Sacks Food Pantry recently hosted their 5th Second Harvest Mobile Pantry with great success! With the help of over 50 volunteers from the church and community, they distributed nearly 25,000 pounds of food to some 200 families in under three hours. The distribution put much needed food into the Greenfield community and resulted in increased publicity for the pantry.
